Well, we dont have a platform. We recognize that, historically in the Republican Party, all kinds of people have had different views on all kinds of important issues. But, there have been certain principles that are broader than particular issues where every republican disagreed and they dont anymore. This has been turned on its head. Just to give you one example, americas involvement in the world, peace through strength, we had a majority of republican members of the House Of Representatives who voted against aid to ukraine. In the very near future, no republican would have voted against aid to ukraine, i mean, we tried isolationism in the 1930s and it didnt work out very well. Now, republicans are saying, in essence, okay, Vladimir Putin, take it. You want ukraine, it is yours. Trump has said he would invite Vladimir Putin to invade nato countries. Can you imagine Ronald Reagan saying that . We have gone from mikael gorbachev, tear down this wall to Vladimir Putin, have at it. It is
No other president has been indicted like this. Trumps lawyers arguing he should be immune, basically totally immune because he was president during those efforts. That is a new relatively made up claim which they lost unanimously before the respected d. C. Court of appeals. Keep that in mind. That is the recent precedent and context for today, and you may remember that was the now infamous hearing where the trump lawyer openly claimed that as President Trump could have a license to kill american opponents. That was the kind of chilling talk that many, many people across the spectrum rebuked then. That kind of talk was back today with grave questions about murder and coups and trumps lawyer saying its okay or it all depends. Lets say this president , who ordered the military to stage a coup. Orders the military or orders someone to assassinate him, is that within his official acts. I think it would depend on the circumstances. It would depend on the hypothetical. It raises questions. O
Them. Trump calling the trial a witch hunt to keep him off the campaign trail. Watch. This is a biden witch hunt to keep me off the campaign trail. I should be in georgia now. I should be in florida now. I should be in a lot of different places right now campaigning and im sitting here. And a this will go on for a long time. Its very unfair. This is a case that nobody wanted to he bring including alvin bragg. It was just at the last second this never happened before where the state tries to assert itself in federal elections. Nobodys ever seen it. Maria it was former Biden Justice Department Official delivering the prosecutions Opening Statement as the judge ruled if trump testifies in his own defense. Other cases against him are fair game to be brought up. I think this is interesting that its michael colangelo. He served as u. S. Associate attorney general under president Joe Bidens Administration and then he left that position to become a state prosecutor in alvin braggs office. So r
