Warren McGraw, a West Virginia political power in two branches of government, is retiring from the bench.

McGraw, most recently a circuit judge in Wyoming County, has submitted his resignation letter to Gov. Jim Justice, according to Beckley’s Register-Herald newspaper. The Governor’s Office earlier today said the letter had not yet been received.
“It is with great regret and sadness that … I just retire as circuit judge of the 27th Judicial Circuit,” McGraw wrote. The Register-Herald reported McGraw has been coping with the effects of Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement.
