A Justice Ministry disciplinary panel on Tuesday night held a marathon meeting with a bare quorum of four people after the rest chickened out, and decided to suspend Prosecutor-General Yoon Seok-youl for two months in the early hours of Wednesday morning. President Moon Jae-in approved the decision the same evening. The hope is that Yoon will now be neutralized for long enough for major investigations into corruption among confidants of Moon to somehow go away, or that Yoon will throw in the towel. Nine former prosecutors general in a statement slammed the decision as a major stain on the rule of law in Korea. But Moon is desperate.
