A major achievement of the Ninth Assembly in reverting the national budget cycle from an unpredictable cycle to a more predictable cycle of January to December have suffered a setback.
The setback followed Senate extension of the capital component of the 2020 appropriation bill, billed to terminate on 31st of December to March 31st 2021.
The extension came about the accelerated passage of the amendment Bill which went through first, second and third reading but not without a rigorous debate by legal minds to avert nullity of the changes in the proposed amendment on the Order paper.

The Senate has expressed grief and sadness at the demise of Mr. Samuel Ndanusa Isaiah known as Sam Nda Isaiah for short after what was described as a brief illness. Isaiah, a well rounded professional, was a pharmacist, a genuine entrepreneur, a journalist, columnist and the publisher of Leadership Newspapers. Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the Senate chairman of media and public affairs said the Senate is deeply saddened with the shocking demise of the veteran journalist and professional adding that only few people combine in one person the rare qualities and professional standing of the deceased.

As tributes continue to pour in for the late Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, who passed away Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, described Nda-Isaiah’s demise as a big fish gone out of the media ocean. Describing him as “a friend and ally”, the president said, “The country has lost a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria.”
A statement by the president’s spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari condoled with the media fraternity, the Nda-Isaiah family, friends and associates of the deceased.
