Susana Burgess, the owner and operator of All Paws on Deck in Griswold, a rescue center specifically for pregnant dogs, last month experienced a series of unfortunate events.
Burgess hired a transport company, UShip, to bring her a mother dog with eight puppies from a shelter in Texas to her home in Griswold. UShip is a newer company that is kind of the Uber of the shipping indusstry, allowing anyone to sign up and hire someone to transport a package for them.
“I was on a time crunch to transport a family of dogs from Texas to Connecticut,” she said in an email. “While networking and asking several people in the rescue world, one person suggested a website called USHIP.”
