To celebrate its centennial, Sutton's offered free shirts to the first 100 customers and $1 hot dog meals throughout the day.
Sutton's sold over 900 hot dogs and served nearly 600 people on Wednesday.
“We love the community," Amy Pinney, wife of Sutton’s current owner, Don Pinney, said. "We love Chapel Hill, and we are so glad that all these people love Suttons."
A series of community-building events will be held as part of “Senior Week,” hosted by the Senior Class Marshals. The celebrations include a social at He’s Not Here, a dinner at Sutton’s Drug Store, the annual bell tower climb, trivia night at Linda’s Bar & Grill and a game of bar golf.
