NASA's Voyager 1 probe started sending weird signals back to Earth in 2022. The agency's engineers, however, have fixed the problem.

Artemis 1 is launching Saturday. For real this time. Plus, this week we've got an exoplanet that can't decide whether it's habitable or not.

The Voyager 1 space probe launched from Earth in September 1977, and is now around 23.5 billion kilometers (or 14.6 billion miles) away from home – and counting.

The probe was apparently sending back data through a broken onboard computer..

The Voyager-1 probe, which is in interstellar space, the area beyond our solar system, remains healthy as engineers have fixed an issue that was sending garbled data to Earth.

They were able to fix it with a simple command.

Voyager 1 is once again beaming back clear telemetry data on its status beyond our solar system, solving one mystery and leading to another.

"We dont know how long the mission will continue, but we can be sure that the spacecraft will provide even more scientific surprises as they travel farther away from the Earth," said Suzanne Dodd,

NASA's twin Voyagers have 3 million times less memory than current smartphones and transmit information 38,000 times slower than 5G internet. But how come it managed to be in space for 45 years?

The Voyager missions are icons of cosmic exploration, and you can celebrate their 45th anniversary with a free webcast tonight (Aug. 18).
