RENO, Nev. - The 101st edition of the
United States Bowling Congress Women s Championships came to a close July 3 at the National Bowling Stadium, with the 2021 event featuring several record-breaking performances during its 72-day run.
The 2021 USBC Women s Championships kicked off April 23 and welcomed 2,552 four-player teams to Reno. Participants competed in four average-based divisions in team competition (Diamond, Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire) and six divisions in doubles, singles and all-events (Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Amethyst and Topaz).
All standings are unofficial and pending final verification.
Colombia s Maria José Rodriguez and Guatemala s Sofia Granda finished the 2021 event at the top of the leaderboard in Diamond Doubles, posting the first 1,500-plus doubles score in tournament history with a 1,560 total May 11.

Helen DiCarlo will celebrate her 98th birthday on Friday. She fondly remembers a different era in her favorite sport, but despite the many changes in the game over her last seven decades as a participant, she enjoys every minute of her weekly trip to the lanes.
DiCarlo and her daughter-in-law, Patricia, currently roll in the Thursday Morning Senior Mixed league, a spring/summer program at Sportsman’s Bowl. Every time Helen gets up to bowl, she gets a little help from “Patti” to line her up on the approach. Then, she focuses hard on her mark and delivers her shot with surprising dexterity from someone her age. Patti often lets Helen know which pins are left on the deck, since Helen’s eyesight isn’t that great any more, and after she gets lined up again, she concentrates on making the spare.
RENO, Nev. - The members of Bowl 2 Win of Mechanicville, New York, set one
The quartet of Robin Orlikowski, Suzanne Morine, Jessica Aiezza and Liz Kuhlkin posted the highest four-player team game since the event switched from five to four players in 2014 (1,003) on the way to a 2,809 total, the second highest team series since the switch.
The team started with 883 before rolling to the 1,003 score and finished with 923 at the National Bowling Stadium to take the lead. Rolling Thunder Lanes of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, previously led Diamond Team with 2,629.
The record performance featured Orlikowski leading the way with 277, and she was followed by Aiezza (269), Kuhlkin (247) and Morine (210).
