SWINDON S hospital will receive a cash injection from the government to upgrade its facilities. Whitehall has announced an overall allocation of £600 million to tackle critical maintenance work in hospitals across England, including £195,000 for Great Western Hospital. The hospital will be using the new fund to upgrade the shower facilities in the Swindon Intermediate Care Centre. A GWH spokeswoman said: “We are pleased to have been granted £195,000 of government money. “The upgraded facilities will improve our patients’ experiences by reducing the potential for trips and falls when they are using the shower. “This money is part of a national drive to support maintenance work across hospital sites around the country.”
