Switch Mobility New Launch: The company had showcased the prototype of its IeVs at the Auto Expo in January this year. On Thursday, it unveiled the IeV3 and IeV4 as part of the series. Switch said prices of the two vehicles would be announced during their market launch which will happen in January 2024, post which customer deliveries will begin in the same month.

The Bengaluru-Chennai express highway, which will reduce the travel time between the two metros to just two hours, will be launched by the year end or January 2024.

Ashok Leyland: "What is critical for us is to create the right network outside of India, find appropriate distributors in markets where we are currently not present," he added. In the last 16 months, the company appointed 13 distributors in the African market with some of them having their own Assembly facility.

The series of vehicles, named IeV, are the countrys first electric commercial vehicles produced by Switch Mobility and aims to provide efficient and eco-friendly solutions for last-mile transportation needs, a company statement said.

The vehicles have a 330 V high voltage EV architecture and are equipped with spacious cargo bodies. The company has secured 13,000 orders for the vehicles, including from e-commerce players such as Amazon and Flipkart. The vehicles will be manufactured at Ashok Leylands production unit in Hosur and will be exported to neighbouring countries initially.

The IeV range comprises of two models- the IeV3 and IeV4, based on the Ashok Leyland Dost series.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said with the massive infrastructure being built across the country, Chennai will soon be connected with Delhi through the access-controlled highway project.
