Far-right agitator Andy Heasman has jumped on the book-banning bandwagon by encouraging people to go into Eason’s on Dublin’s O’Connell Street and remove books from the shelves.
Library staff have recently been issued guidelines on how to deal with protesters targeting and sometimes removing LGBTQ+ books aimed at children and young people. But in our world of social media and Pornhub and Netflix and the whole world wide web in our teenagers’ pockets, banning or censoring books is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
