Aprilia SXR 125 review, test ride
An SXR with a smaller engine and at a slightly more accessible price point.
Model : When it comes to petrol powered scooters, the Aprilia SXR 160 is probably the most desirable option available today. Its Italian style, performance, planted road manners and brand appeal make it quite the unique offering. However, with the launch of the SXR 125, Aprilia is offering the same package with a less potent mill. Is it still as desirable as its sibling? What s different? Aprilia has literally made a heart transplant by swapping the SXR 160 s engine with a 125cc mill. Which means there are no changes made to the chassis, styling, suspension or equipment.

The Aprilia India website has prices for the SXR 125 listed in the booking section. The upcoming scooter has been priced at Rs 1,14,994 (ex-showroom, Pune) and Rs 1,16,358 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Powering the SXR 125 is the same engine that you get in the SR 125. While it makes 9.9hp and 9.7Nm on the SR, it puts out 9.5hp and 9.2Nm on the SXR. It also gets the wide 120/70-12 tyres and 7 litre fuel tank capacity like the SXR 160.
Aprilia SXR 125: features
Features like all-LED lights, USB charging port, digital instrument cluster and the optional Bluetooth connectivity are also available on the lower-capacity SXR model. However, since this is a 125cc scooter, it only gets CBS or Combined braking system instead of ABS. Aprilia’s SXR 125 will be available in four colours- Matt Black, Glossy White, Matt Blue and Glossy Red. These are the same as the ones available

Aprilia has commenced pre-bookings of the SXR 125 in India. This is essentially the Aprilia SXR 160 with a 125cc engine, which means everything from the bodywork to the chassis is identical. Aprilia has begun production of the SXR 125 at its plant in Baramati and the scooter has arrived at a few dealerships as well.
