TALLAHASSEE, Fla. For the third straight season, Sydney Sherrill has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. She was named to the All-ACC Team along with seven others on the Seminole softball team The ACC Defensive Player of the Year award has been around for only four years and Sydney Sherrill has won it three times, solidifying her as one of the best defensive players in conference history. Sherrill was a brick wall all season long at third base, earning a .977 fielding percentage in the regular season and a perfect fielding percentage in ACC Play. She added a .324 batting average to her defensive performance as she recorded a team-high 13 doubles to go with 37 RBI and eight home runs. She is a part of a Seminole defense that led the country in fielding percentage (.983) while turning 23 double plays.
