Interestingly before the supreme court said they had to do it is consequences of taking a plea or having their client found guilty. in the world we live in, if somebody is found guilty, even of minor crimes, they may lose the right to housing authority, they may lose the right to any kind of government benefit. specifically in immigration cases a plea could result in somebody being deported or children taken away. for many of our clients, its much more important that not happen and they go ahead...

That systemic disenfranchisement in this as well. both parties sort of lose their collective will to engage the conversation about the terms under which we vote because whomever wins now has a stake in the system, right? whoever wins has a stake in the system. so it becomes more difficult to get this sort of systemic change. and also i dont want to miss your point here about drug prohibition, because its a t two-step one because we prohibit not just the sale of drug bus the private use of them. ...
