"As the winter season comes upon us here at Matt Talbots we are always looking for donations of sleeping bags, tents, blankets, hats and gloves," said Leanne Pelser, director of the housing and outreach program. 

Matt Talbo plans to add to the north side of its building to allow more space for the hunger program, housing initiatives and a conference training space.

Staff members will also go out through the city giving water to homeless people on the street.

The event is a community-wide fundraiser and they're fighting to change the face of poverty and affordable housing in Lincoln.

With snow and bitter cold on the way for the New Year the city of Lincoln is out today treating roads with brine due to freezing temperatures and fog. They are also preparing to be out tomorrow plowing and using rock salt on the main routes.  The city is using private contractors for residential roadways.

Nobody went hungry this Christmas, thanks to the People's City Mission and Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach.
