Woman charged with murdering elderly man incompetent to stand trial
An Ocklawaha woman charged with killing an elderly man is scheduled to check in to a mental hospital and await a hearing to determine whether she is competent to stand trial.
Joshua Woodard, an assistant public defender who represents Yvonne Lavette Wilkerson, told Circuit Judge Gary Sanders on Tuesday that his client has been evaluated and doctors have indicated that Wilkerson is not competent to proceed.
Assistant State Attorney Sasha Kidney said her office has reviewed the reports and has no objection to the defense analysis. Kidney said no further evaluations are scheduled.
