A native of suburban chicago, he earned a b. A. From st. Joseph college in 2004 and in 2006 and 2011. His scholarship has appeared in the journal of African American history and the social science review. His biography of arthur ashe entitled arthur ashe tennis and justice in the Civil Rights Era was published by Johns Hopkins university press. His work focuses on the intersection of popular and political culture, particularly the relationship between sport and the black Freedom Movement.
