An 86-year-old man has failed in a High Court action which would have reversed the transfer of farmland worth more than €1m to his nephew and has had costs awarded against him.
Neither Galway teacher Caroline Whelan nor any of her three sisters were interested in taking over their 180ac family farm, so in 2018, Caroline decided to turn part of it into a pumpkin patch.
Nurse Noreen Fitzgerald and her husband Patrick turned their farm upside down in 2019 when they gutted their outhouses and converted half their farmyard into a “state-of-the-art open farm and play centre”.
