A House of Representatives member-elect for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, Isma’ila Maihanchi, is dead. Maihanchi, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness. Channels Television reports that a source in the lawmaker’s family who confirmed his death said his remains would be laid to rest according to Islamic rites later in the day.

The Senator-elect, David Jimkuta, has been expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC), over allegations of gross anti-party activities. The Taraba State Chapter of the party in the Takum Local Government Area made this known in a letter dated April 7th, 2023 and signed by the party’s council chairman, Honourable Sirajo Sallau.
