The spokesperson for the police in Adamawa State, SP Suleiman Nguroje, told SaharaReporters on Wednesday morning that the clash between the police and the military officers started at Target Junction, in Yola, the state capital.

The Brigade Commander of 23 Brigade, Yola, Adamawa State, Brig Gen Gambo Mohammed, has reacted to claims by the Nigerian police that the military personnel attacked the police command headquarters in the state. Fintiri also called for calm as the violent clash had put residents of Yola, the state capital in panic mode.

Soldiers were said to have later stormed the Police Command Headquarters in Yola at about 11pm, during which there was heavy exchange of gunfire.The soldiers later retreated as residents who feared it was a Boko Haram attack scampered for safety.
