Dist. 230 schools stay the course

When the Wethersfield School District made plans over the summer to safely return to learning, while still educating students in the face of a deadly pandemic, some wondered if the effort would make it past Labor Day.
Then, Superintendent Shane Kazubowski said they wondered if they would make it through the first month, then the second month and so on, without being forced to close and go remote, as they had done last March while students were instructed remotely for the remainder of the academic year.
But, the mitigation plan drawn up by a cross section of partners over the summer has brought them safely to the end of the first semester, which ends Friday, Dec. 18. The district has followed a hybrid learning model with a mix of in-person and remote learning that has only about half of the students in the buildings at one time.
