Called the bauer reof Jewish Education or the Central Agency for Jewish Education. Jewish learning works used to be called the bureau of Jewish Education and it was called jaw wish education center. We changed our name about rate years ago. The purpose is to promoted, to advance jewish learning in the community. That is what it has always been. As schools began to develop in the mid 20th century in the San Francisco bay area, the bureaus main strategy was to support the schools and make education better. The wayway did was by supporting the schools and providing training, professional development for educators, and we still do that. Education is much broader, not only in schools. We support formal education and parents striving to bring jewish learning into their families and we support a library.
