It is indeed unfortunate that rather than increasing the education budget, it has been decreased, and due to this, universities and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) have suffered the most. Certainly, it should be the first and foremost responsibility of the governments, education ministry, and the concerned authorities, like the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Ministry of IT&T and Huawei to train 1000 government officials - ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT&T) in collaboration with Huawei would train over 1,000 government employees to achieve the Digital Pakistan initiative. It was apprised by the Vice President of Huawei Middle East Region Li Xiangyu who accompanied by a delegation met President Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Monday. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary M/o Science and Technology Dr. Arshad Mahmood, the Secretary M/o Federal Education and Professional Training Farah Hamid, the Additional Secretary M/o IT&T Ali Sher Mehsud, and other senior officials of the government while the Chairman Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman attended the meeting via video link.

National April 30, 2021 Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology Chairman Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman has said that national education emergency is need of the hour. Addressing a webinar titled ‘Budget 2021-22: Needs & Expectations of Higher Education Sector’ organised by Association of Private Sector Universities Pakistan (APSUP), Superior University, Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences Pakistan (IUCPSS), University of Lahore, Government College University Lahore, and FPCCI Central CSR Committee on Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Atta recommended increase in allocation to education by federal and provincial governments by 0.5% of GDP annually till it reaches 5.0% of GDP over next 5 years.
