First, members of the task force introduce themselves and talk about their expectations. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for attending the first public hearing and listening session on the president s task force on 21st Century Policing. My name is ronald davis. Im the director of the department of justices Community Organization policing services, also known as the cops office and im serving as the executive director for the task force. On december 1st president obama announced his intent to form the president s task force on 21st Century Policing with the idea of coming up with concrete recommendations to build a gap in the trust between Law Enforcement and the communities they serve. While the recommendations were to build trust, the president also made it clear to do so in a manner that includes our historic reduction in crime and enhanced Public Safety. Service providers, with all of us working together accomplishing more than the best of us working alone. As we seek to move from demonstration the legislation, we cannot forget separation. After the doors of opportunity are opened for access, we must make sure that we have the skills to walk through it. Unfortunately, many of very many of our young people are not prepared and that is on us. As we renew access to equity, it equals a better america. Access plus equity equals a more perfect union. We can truly be a nation with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. [applause] thank you. Thank you so much. My favorite part of the program, this is the part where we talk about what next. As we look out at the fights that have taken place, it was always the younger people who helped to leave lead the fight in the future. They led the fights in the past. It should be no different today. When you take the young people and ask the question . What is wrong with the youth of today . Just look at

We would probably see in terms of social indicators a much larger humanitarian catastrophe without aid. And i might add, obviously if possible we want to get our assistance to people in their homes so they dont have to flee. They need to be able to flee if they feel they have to. But it is better to get it there and then that reduces the strain on the surrounding countries. And as you mentioned, jordan is a critical partner for us. The same with lebanon, we are concerned about their stability in those countries, that is critical. And frankly, terrorism. A young man growing up, he cant feed his family, he hasnt got a job, hes going to be much more open to the lure if you will, of people asking him to do bad things. Thank you very much. I think i got my question answered. Mrs. Frankel. Mr. Yo ho. An
Cant trace of general liberals who may someday run the country. I grew up in mexico. Very briefly. Mexico was a horrible backward authoritarian place with his loser president s, and all of a sudden you get guys like fox and calderon, and where did they come from . They have a ph. D from the university of chicago. Thats how it happened. Find those 10 people, educate them and maybe some good will come 20 years down the road. You mentioned the justice component of a lot of these islamist parties. Theres an argument that can be made that this is a response to the corruption of these you sponsored regimes. I would say that in the case of gaza which you mentioned, rob, that was a very series component. Any thoughts how to combat that or includes this in the right direction . For the record im against corruption. [laughter] , good, good, good. Wanted to clear that up. Yes, look. It goes back to the point i thought it made in my remarks that islamists didnt win and nonislamists lost, whether t
