India Business News: GUWAHATI: Tata Electronics has submitted a proposal to the Centre for setting up a semiconductor processing plant in Assam with an investment of Rs 40.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today launched a portal to ceremoniously start the application submission process for Mukhya Mantrir Atmanirbhar Asom at a function held at Lok Sewa Bhawan here.

Sarma said the Tata Group held initial talks with the state government about the semiconductor assembly and packaging plant, and satisfied with the discussions here, they have approached the Centre.

Tata Group, under Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), a greenfield venture with expertise in manufacturing precision components, will set up an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT).

CM Sarma also said that the State has already witnessed a robust industrial climate. He also said in the last couple of years under the present State government, MoU worth Rs. 10 thousand crore have been agreed upon with different business ventures.
