Tata Motors is India's largest commercial vehicle company and the fourth-largest PV player. In PVs, the company has products in the compact and mid-size cars and utility vehicle segments.

“The sector that IREDA is in, is clearly a monopoly or rather an oligopoly. It enjoys a durable competitive advantage. My sense is people who have got an allotment will hold on to it. Yes, there are a lot of listing gains; people would take on that but these are companies which over the longer term create good wealth.”

“If you failed to get allocations in IREDA, I would suggest doing a SIP for the next six months. Buy some now, buy some on declines and keep buying every month. It depends on your duration as an investor. The short-term traders will have made a killing. But the longer-term play is still to be invested in power lenders because they have never had it so good.”

While demand was robust and the Tata name instilled trust among investors, there were concerns too - the major one being revenue concentration from top five clients

“One should be more patient. We have seen with IPOs that whenever they have this kind of listing, one gets opportunities maybe in a few days or a few weeks down the line. For example, we have exit polls today, so there is one headwind which probably will come. It is difficult to say which way it will go, as there will be events.”
