and Sheila Johnson s Salamander Hotels & Resorts announce the debut of The Family Reunion presented by Kwame Onwuachi, a multi-day event that will celebrate diversity in the hospitality community through cooking classes and demonstrations, wine tastings and dinners, and thought-provoking panel discussions with world-class chefs, sommeliers and industry leaders including Carla Hall, Edouardo Jordan, Nina Compton, Carlton McCoy, Gregory Gourdet, Mashama

Malene Barnett s plate is full. When she isn t traveling between her Caribbean-inspired home in New York City and Temple University in Philadelphia, where she s completing an MFA in ceramics, she s exploring the future of dwellings for Black families through Obsidian, a first-of-its-kind concept house.
The project is seminal for the Black Artists + Designers Guild, the nonprofit she founded with an unapologetic mission of carving out space for Black design talent. The guild is not about, how are we going to show up in your space? My point was, we don t need your space to show up. That s why we created our own, she says.

It s not an Italian restaurant, but Emmer & Rye has been known for its house-made pasta since it opened in 2015.
The restaurant, helmed by chef Kevin Fink, specializes in using heirloom ingredients in its dishes, such as freshly milled grains to make pastas and noodles. For the first time, the restaurant is selling dried versions of three of these pastas in Whole Foods Markets in Austin, San Antonio and Dallas.
Along with partner Tavel Bristol-Joseph, the culinary team sources the flour for this new product line from two mills, Hayden Flour Mills in Arizona and Barton Springs Mill in Dripping Springs. The type of flour appears in the product name: Blue Beard Durum Spaghetti, Egyptian Emmer Rigatoni and Rouge de Bordeaux Strozzapreti.
