COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 23 Michigan won the series finale on Saturday over Ohio State at Buckeye Field, 11-0, on the strength of an eight-run seventh inning. The Buckeyes are now 13-10 on the year while Michigan improves to 16-4.
Starting pitcher Allison Smith allowed a first-inning run but then kept Michigan off the scoreboard for the next three innings. The Buckeyes’ offense, however, couldn’t get much going against Wolverine starting pitcher Alex Storako, who struck out 10 in seven innings. In the top of the fifth, Michigan added two runs on a pair of solo home runs to go ahead 3-0 and then put eight on the board in the top of the seventh, all of which came with two outs.
BTN+ A superb outing from senior right-hander
Olivia Ferrell wasn’t quite enough for the Nebraska softball team Thursday afternoon, as the Huskers dropped game one of their doubleheader with No. 23 Michigan 2-1 in eight innings at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, Fla. Ferrell (1-4) allowed only one earned run and just three hits in a career-high 7.2 innings, but the Nebraska offense was stymied by Michigan left-hander Meghan Beaubien, the reigning Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Beaubien (3-1) tossed a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts, and the lone run she allowed was unearned.
Nebraska (3-4) managed only four walks against Beaubien, but still the Huskers had the tying run on third base and the winning run at second base in the bottom of the eighth inning before Michigan (5-2) escaped with the win.

I have been told by media sources that every game this weekend will be streamed on BTN+, in addition to live stats being provided, so there will be plenty of ways for fans to follow along. With the season now just a few days away, I decided to pen my Michigan Softball 2021 Season Preview, covering the roster, the schedule, and what to expect in this ever-so-unusual campaign.
