A technical glitch means that last weekend’s community selfie at the Sandwich Boardwalk was a dress rehearsal for the real deal, which is now scheduled for New Year’s Day.
As of Thursday, March 11, there was one (but just one) candidate for every open seat in the upcoming Sandwich Town Election.
Town Clerk Taylor D. White said three candidates had stepped forward since last week to seek openings on the Sandwich Planning Board and the Library Board of Trusteesâthe only seats for which no one had declared.
The new candidates are Paul Coteus of Pine Street, who is seeking a three-year term in the planning board; James Dever, a former Sandwich School Committee member who is seeking to fill a one-year unexpired seat on the planning board; and Jayne Burke of Carleton Drive East in East Sandwich, and Michael McCartney of Grand Oak Road in Forestdale, both of whom are seeking three-year terms on the library board.
Seven candidates seeking election or reelection to local boards have pulled nomination papers from the Sandwich Town Clerkâs office in the past two weeks.
Most are incumbents, but there is one newcomer. He is David Liskowski, of East Sandwich, and he is seeking a three-year term on the Board of Health.
The incumbents include Sandwich School Committee candidates Kevin R. Sareault and Burton E. Fisher. Both men are seeking three-year seats on the school board.
Planning board incumbent Jeffrey R. Picard is seeking another three-year term; Nicholas E Fernandes, Jr. is seeking another three-year term on the Board of Assessors; Nanette B. Perkins would like to serve another five-year term on the Sandwich Housing Authority; and John M. Faherty Jr. would like to serve another three years as town constable.
