Good evening. Right now through midnight, pg e is starting shut offs to counties in the east bay, south bay and santa cruz. People in the north bay have been without power for nearly 24 hours. They say once the weather event has passed, about 48 pg e helicopters, 6300 ground crews will jump into action to help with power restoration. They also say it could take up to 5 days to fully restore power. We have Team Coverage tonight. We start with aaron peck who is watching the winds. For anybody sitting at home and going its not windy at my house, whats the big deal with all of this . Whats happening in the north bay is the perfect idea of whats happening. Take a look at the wind speeds. The winds have gusted to 68 miles an hour on mount saint helena. Where most of us live here, you havent noticed it, but whats happening in the mountains is serious. Scene as well. Residents themselves were told to evacuate. Pg e had turned off power to this area about 11 00 last night. People had to evacuate in the dark. They went to st. Monicas church not far from the fire scene and thats where we find Sharon Katsuda live. Sharon . Reporter good morning. We are here with hundreds of evacuees here in the parking lot of safeway in moraga. With me are some high school students. Tell me what did you see first thing this morning . I was in my bed and i kind of just heard a bunch of noises. There was nothing really happening at my house. I turned on the flashlight and my room was filled with smoke and i kind of got up and my parents were running around, they woke me up. There was a lot happening. I looked outside and the sky was red. I was shook. Reporter it was very close to your house. You saw the red glow . Yes. Reporter what woke you up, the sirens . Sirens, honking, my parents i dont even know what came first. Air and, they cannot figure out what direction it was coming from. Power had already been turned off at this point. We had to run around gathering stuff with our legend. We had no power. We turned off our phones because we were trying to conserve power. We did not get any text update. We do not even know of our phones would work. Police have issued evacuation orders for the entire ranch neighborhood. They should evacuate from their and come here to say Monicas Church because this is where they have all the resources set up. We spoke to some evacuees who have been told by police that they may be allowed back in the ho witn an hour or an hour and a half. We will see what ends up happening. About 380 acres burning in this grass fire near a wind farm. Just west of rio vista. At one point the flames jumped highway 12. So far no reports of any structure damaged.
