president obama says the credit downgrade should give washington a new sense of urgency to do something about the nation s red ink. the president is calling for congress to build on what he describes as historic cuts in last week s deal to raise the debt limit. what we need to do now is combine those spending cuts with two additional steps tax reform that will ask those who can afford it to pay their fair share. and modest adjustments to health care programs like medicare. shepard: john boehner says raising taxes is the wrong approach. i look forward to working with leaders of both starters to boost spending and boost confidence and give american small businesses the stability they need to create jobs. team fox coverage continues. ed henry our chief white house correspondent there tonight. do we know why the president didn t speak out about the downgrade, i don t know, before this afternoon? wow, shep, he took three days for him to speak out. camp david over the weekend. his aide
