pay for it. shep? shepard: jonathan hunt live tonight in louisiana. the bosses at bp have said many times their company will indeed pay for all legitimate claims made as a result of this oil spill. but the process of filing those claims and collecting the money has proven to be very difficult at best. we know the spill is directly affecting tens of thousands of people who make their living from the gulf. people including fishermen, charter boat operators. other business owners on the coast. but only a fraction have received any cash and according to the feds, even bp officials admit they are not paying out money fast enough. the alabama governor bob reilly is sending help in in the form of the national guard. he called up troops armed with pen and paper to help people with their claims process. jonathan serrie continues our team fox coverage live in orange beach, alabama tonight. jonathan, folks there aren t just concerned about their claims. they are also trying to keep the oil from
including whether foreign ships should be helping with the clean up in the gulf. major garrett continues our team fox coverage in the white house tonight. that s becomes a pretty controversial topic after some offers from some countries, major. that s right. four nations have offered help and the u.s. has accepted that 13 nations have offered help, shepard. the white house has said we don t need your help. what is being dewaitside are ships, foreign vessels being denied access to helping particularly ships that are capable of skimming oil off the surface because they are foreign flag and operated by foreign personnel? there is something called the jones act dates back to 1920 that says territorial waters the ships must be u.s. flagged and operated by u.s. maritime personnel. that s to protect the u.s. maritime industry. this can be waived by the administration if it so sees fit to do. so that hasn t happened yet. the administration says it s got all the ships, all the vessels, all th
