A confrontation between security forces and women protesters in Imphal on Tuesday led to tear gas shells being fired to quell the protest. India News: Tear gas shells were fired by Haryana security personnel after some young farmers were heading towards the multi-layered barricades at the Shambhu border point at Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday.

Young farmers in Punjab and Haryana are protesting against the Centres proposal for procurement of pulses, maize, and cotton at the MSP for five years. They have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri points on Punjabs border with Haryana since February 13. The farmers are demanding legal guarantees for MSP and farm loan waivers.
