City of Boulder, Museum of Boulder partner to create ‘Boulder Strong’ memorial
BOULDER, Colo. (KRDO) Planning is currently underway for both short-term and permanent memorials to honor the victims of the mass shooting in March.
The City of Boulder and the Museum of Boulder at Tebo Center have partnered for the project, which is still in the early planning stages.
A temporary memorial fence on Table Mesa Drive is currently home to thousands of items placed there by the community in solidarity.
“Our community is still reeling from the recent tragedy and will be grieving for a long time to come,” said Interim City Manager Chris Meschuk. “The city is committed to honoring the victims and preserving the outpouring of support embodied in this organically created tribute.”
BOULDER The Museum of Boulder at Tebo Center is partnering with the city to design and build a Boulder Strong memorial dedicated to those killed during last month’s mass shooting.
The groups are in “early planning stages for both short-term and permanent memorials. Consideration of input from those directly impacted by the tragedy, as well as the broader community, will be a core component of the process,” according to a city news release. “Planning is underway, while being mindful of the necessary time for pause, reflection and response to the situation.”
After the March 22 shooting, mourners built a temporary memorial along the fence in front of the grocery store at 3600 Table Mesa Drive. Tribute items were moved this week to allow visitors to Table Mesa easier access to the shopping center.
