78 years ago, city officials approved American Airlines lease for the Tulsa maintenance base. The company would move its main maintenance base from New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

American Airlines said Wednesday it secured more than $22 million from the State of Oklahoma for improvements to the Tulsa maintenance base, a major employer of Green Country aviation workers.

The funding from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce goes toward the company’s planned improvements to the existing Tech Ops Tulsa facility.
