Were called to Williams Pointe townhomes in this morning. Theres been information released so far. But we do know a man was taken to the hospital and released for injuries sustained in the incident. The North Carolina division of waste management. Which oversees the states brownfields program. The meeting will start at six pm today. 3 the site being discussed is the 41acre property on sand hill road, next to the former basf plant. Before the landfill was closed in 2006, construction waste, fly ash, stored on the property. A brownfields agreement would allow enka partners llc of asheville to redevlop the property into a park with greenways, ballfields and a concession area. But they must abide by specific requirements. Some of those include keeping at least two feet of soil cover over any waste in the landfill during redevelopment. And prohibiting the use of groundwater at the site to be used by the public.
