yeah. i think it is fixable. we did see behind the scenes in terms of what they re doing and what kind of efforts they ve had under way for the last couple i guess it s been almost two months since they got the website up and running and then they had this thing they called the tech surge where they brought in some outsiders and some more people to put more effort into it. they wanted to show what they ve worked on up until now and what they plan to do to get it really ready for the final push. what did it look like inside this place in maryland? qssi i believe is the name of the place where they are leading the tech surge on the website. what did it look like in there? i suppose they were pretty hard at work and what are the potential hiccups that the site could still face moving forward here? right. well, qssi is one of the contractors behind the website and they have an office in maryland where they have set up what they call the exchange operation center or xoc.
what do you make of that statement that they think it s going to get worse before it gets better? the statement is very true, martha. because what oracle and google and this tech surge have been called in to fix is only going to be the user experience in terms of helping them log in. but once you lock in, there s got to be integration between cgi, the company building the web site, the data hub, between federal and state systems to check eligibility information, and then the web sites, the insurance plans where you actually start to be able to spot shop. and none of these systems today were actually built in sin tony. the problem is each of these vendors went and built their own thing, but there was nobody really overseeing how all of these pieces were going to come together. and having dealt with these kinds of systems with insurance company systems, well jilt systems, this is not something oracle or google or anybody is capable of doing. they have no expertise around
running. and another thing barbara mikulski says i think the website is question confusing. it crashed again yesterday. it s been down nightly to make sure they can get the glitches done. there s been a promise made, as you know, that all of that will be fixed by the end of the month. how confident are you about that? i m confident from the information that i get from the administration as a member of congress that the tech surge and the triage that is being done on that website is going to substantially, if not completely address the problems with the website by the end of november, and that has to be done. let s make sure that we separate the two issues here. the website needs to be fixed. no one is more upset about the problems that occurred than president obama, and he has personally weighed in and made sure that those website issues are going to get addressed. and let s separate that from whether or not americans believe that we should continue to fully
i am harris faulkner. down again. healthcare.gov that is linking americans to health care exchanges will go off line in a few hours from now. the site will be down for an extended fix. something that the website sorely needs. it is plagued since day one. you can count the number of successful enrollments on hand. and memos from the obama administration show that six people managed to sign up the first day the website went live. the administration is promising a tech surge will fix the trouble. health and human secretary services kathleen sebelius said the site should be up and running bite end of the month. the republicans say it goes
the white house to help healthcare.gov take up some of its tasks here. what kind of response did you get from the white house? well, i think the white house and others are very focused on getting this site going, that is healthcare.gov. and they will. we ve had some recent discussions with some people. we re operating in these 36 states today that the federal government is in. anyone who wants to buy health insurance that isn t they did nothing like that say yes? i haven t heard yes yet. not as of yet. when do you think we ll know whether their tech surge is working? they re saying by the end of this month. let s hope that s the case. every day is precious with this. gary, thank you so much today. thanks, richard. one in seven americans are on food stamps. one in four of them are kids. today, they re all seeing the amount they get to buy food drop dramatically. inside syria, the civil war there has left more than 3 million kids at risk. and now they face a foe many
