Pet cancer vaccine maker Torigen Pharmaceuticals expanding with new lease, venture funding

A member of UConn’s Technology Incubation Program since 2017, Ashley Kalinauskas’ veterinary pharmaceutical startup Torigen Pharmaceuticals Inc. is getting ready to venture out on its own. The company, which is developing a cancer vaccine for animals, has raised $7.7 million to date, most of it in the last two years, and recently signed a 9,090-square-foot lease in Farmington, at 6 Executive Dr., where it will move its operations by summer.

CaroGen's Hepatitis B vaccine recommended for $6.8M in federal funding

With $8M raised, Farmington startup CytoVeris ready to test its cancer detection technology

In just three years, Farmington-based medical device company CytoVeris has gone from a small startup with the goal of helping surgeons better detect cancer, to a company that’s raised $8 million and hired 19 employees, with plans to add six more in the year ahead. More importantly, its cancer detection device has made strides; a feasibility study is scheduled to take place in the spring, while clinical trials could start in early 2023, company officials said.

UConn entrepreneurship head sees cannabis as possible growth engine

A top research and entrepreneurship official at UConn says Connecticut has the opportunity to jump to the forefront of the cannabis industry’s startup scene.
