What should Pa. learn from COVID-19? And will we embrace the lessons in such divided times?

Hurricane forecasting has advantages over pandemic forecasting. If people follow an evacuation order and no one dies, the hurricane still leaves behind floods and downed trees and plenty of justification for the order.
With a pandemic, closing businesses and schools might prevent sickness and death, but also eliminate evidence of what might have been. That makes it harder to argue against people who claim overreaction or overreach.
Disagreement about the true severity of COVID-19 may well complicate matters as Pennsylvania, and the country, grapple with improving emergency response plans to better-deal with the next infectious disease emergency.
