tejas fighter jet: Why GE plan to make fighter jet engines in India is a big deal

General Electrics aerospace unit has signed an agreement with Indias Hindustan Aeronautics to jointly produce engines in India to power fighter jets for the IAF. The GE engine in question is called the F414 and will power Tejas Mark 2 and Indias next-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft. The deal is a milestone in the increasing ties between the US and India, two countries that were once on opposite sides of the Cold War.
