The Department of Telecom (DoT) is gearing up to hold the next round of spectrum auction on June 6 for eight spectrum bands (800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz, 2,500 MHz, 3,300 MHz, and 26 GHz) meant for mobile phone services at a base price of about Rs 96,317 crore.
Considering the additional requirement for national rollout of Kavach, an additional 5 MHz in the 700 MHz spectrum will be reserved for the Indian Railways
The Union Cabinet extended the Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund for another three years and approved the auction of telecom spectrum bands at a base price of ₹96,317.65 crore.
Telecom Spectrum: Looking ahead, the importance of the spectrum as a national asset is only set to increase. Emerging technologies like 5G, the IoT, and autonomous vehicles will drive demand for spectrum, while advances in spectrum management techniques, such as dynamic spectrum access, offer opportunities for more efficient use of this resource.
