REASSURANCE: Temporary Chief Superintendent Rob O Connor A POLICE boss has issued reassurance to the public after a serious assault in Barrow left a teenager hospitalised. Temporary Chief Superintendent Rob O Connor stressed the incident on Jarrow Street yesterday was an isolated one. He said enquiries had revealed the parties involved were believed to have known one another. A 13-year-old boy who was airlifted to Alder Hey Children s Hospital in Liverpool has injuries described as not life-threatening . He is in a stable condition. Police say the injuries are believed to have been caused by a knife. A 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy arrested in connection with the incident have now been released on bail.
