After stints in separate corners of Seminole Heights, long-running Tampa art gallery Tempus Projects has a new home as one of the 14 entities driving activity inside Ybor City's new Kress Collective. Last Thursday, it-reopened with a show that also featured live music and DJs.

Tempus Projects: Grand Reopening Tracy Midulla (above, right), facilitator of the Kress Collective and founder of the art gallery Tempus Projects, was born and raised in Tampa. She’s the fourth generation of women in her family to work in Ybor City (her grandfather was also born just blocks from the collective). On Thursday, Jan. 26, she hosts a grand re-opening for Tempus, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. where there’ll be four exhibitions, plus DJs and live music.

A Bad Batch: Beauty in the Breakdown, recent works by Selina Román Since late 2020, Román has been creeping at night with her camera to document malfunctioning purple streetlights around Tampa. In the dark of night, these broken lights bathe their surroundings in an otherworldly hue that suspends reality and transports us to another dimension.

"The Eternal Present" by Lucia Riffel In collaboration with Atlanta nonprofit Dashboard, Seminole Heights' Tempus Projects presents work from animator and illustrator Lucia Riffel. An opening reception happens on Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m., and the show is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., plus Fridays by appointment only.
