Edward Odell Ed Garner, jack-of-all-trades known for his tenacity

Edward Odell ‘Ed’ Garner YORKTOWN Our loving father, husband, paw-paw, old pop-pop and uncle, Edward Odell “Ed” Garner, peacefully passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2021. He was born to Marvin and Pauline Garner in Selma, North Carolina. Ed grew up in both Selma, North Carolina, and Newport News when his family moved to the area. Ed enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1954 and served with the 11th Airborne Division, 553rd Military Police Company, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Ed married his beloved wife, Eva L. May, on Nov. 2, 1956. Together, they raised three daughters, Teresa “Terri” (John) Walton, Mitzie (Robert) Puakea and Stacy Garrett. Ed is survived by his two daughters, Terri and Mitzie; and three grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Eva L Garner, 82, her greatest joy came from time spent with family

Eva L. Garner YORKTOWN Our loving mother, wife, Nana, Old Nana, sister and aunt, Eva L. Garner, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020. Mom was born to Claudie and Lorene May; grew up in Pottersville, Missouri; and graduated from Bakersville High School, Bakersville, Missouri. Eva loved to cook, she enjoyed the antics of Lucille Ball, the music of Alan Jackson and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Eva was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and attended the Gloucester Church of Christ until her health declined. Eva married Edward Odell Garner on Nov. 2, 1956. Together, they raised three daughters, Teresa “Terri” (John) Walton, Mitzie (Robert) Puakea and Stacy Garrett.
