The March 3 vehicle search was followed by a search of the man’s residence a central Nanaimo motel and several storage lockers in south Nanaimo. The search at the motel turned up a half ounce of suspected fentanyl, three ounces of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, another one litre of GHB and $1,500 in cash. Another three storage lockers on a rural property south of Nanaimo were searched March 5. It was determined that GHB was being produced in one of them. The suspect has been released as the case continues, but charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl and cocaine) and production of a controlled substance (GHB) are expected.
