A new home opened Saturday in Houma for teen mothers who might have had no place else to go.
The home, run by local nonprofit Lifted for Love, will help teen moms who are just leaving foster care, homeless or financially at risk get the support they and their newborns need to build a stable and productive life.
Co-founder and Executive Director Amanda Oden was inspired to start the program because of her background in social work.
“I saw the lack of resources in this area and wanted to fulfill a need,” Oden said. “Our ultimate goal is reducing cycles of neglect and or abuse. We want people who go through our services to survive and then thrive in the community.”
