Annette Bloch, a longtime community leader and philanthropist in the Coachella Valley who donated millions to cancer research and DAP Health, and was active with the Palm Springs Art Museum and other causes, died Saturday in Kansas at the age of 94 after a battle with cancer.
A native of Philadelphia, Bloch was married for 58 years to Richard Bloch, co-founder of the tax filing company H&R Block. After Richard Bloch survived a diagnosis of lung cancer that he was told was likely to be terminal, he retired in the early 1980s and began focusing his efforts on cancer treatment and support services.
