The Thabo Bester prison escape matter was scheduled for pre trial-proceedings on Wednesday but that could not happen due to some of the accused, including Bester himself, changing lawyers.

What was supposed to be a pretrial hearing in the case of convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester in the Bloemfontein high court on Wednesday turned into a “jail food and clothes complaint” hearing.

A Cape Town cop and his brother appeared in Athlone court in Cape Town on Tuesday 20 February facing charges of kidnapping and murder of a taxi boss.

He was later dropped off at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni

SOUTH AFRICA - Lovebirds Dr Nandipha Magudumana and convicted rapist Thabo Bester were reunited again in court, as they appeared at the Bloemfontein High Court on Wednesday on charges that include fraud, corruption, assisting an inmate escape, and the violation of dead bodies.

G4s scored a contract to run the prison back in 2000 with the contract expected to end in 2026 - however, Besters escape put pressure on DCS to end the contract before then.

The accused are facing a range of charges including assisting a convicted prisoner to escape from lawful custody, fraud, corruption and violation of a corpse.

Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha appeared in court today. Meanwhile, Katlego Bereng's family prepares to sue G4S and the Department of Health.

Convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester, his girlfriend Dr Nandipha Magudumana and seven co-accused are appearing in the Free State High Court on Wednesday for a pretrial hearing.
