The Thane CGST department has busted a Rs 22 crore fake input tax credit racket and arrested a father-son duo, who are the proprietors of two separate firms.

The jail authorities had sold cakes worth Rs 6,41,487 in just three days during Christmas. The sale is more than last year which was around Rs 5.22 lakhs.

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad City Police has brought two accused, allegedly involved in smuggling 1.46 kilograms of methamphetamine, to Ahmedabad from Thane Central Prison.

Two persons were nabbed on October 5 and October 9 on charges of having a fake billing racket which involves more than 20 firms.

Pune: The Maharashtra Prison authorities on Monday inaugurated an exhibition of products prepared by inmates of the Yerwada Central Jail. The exhibition was showcased at the shop near Yerwada jail and had a variety of eye-catching products including decorative items, lanterns, clothes and shoes among others.

According to a statement issued by the CGST Commissionerate on Saturday, the arrested accused indulged in fraudulent availed and utilised Input Tax Credit to the tune of Rs 90.68 crore without receiving the goods or services in violation of the provisions of CGST Act 2017.

Thane: Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Jitendra Awhad on Tuesday visited the Thane central jail and directed authorities to ensure the beautification of historical spots inside the structure where several freedom fighters were lodged, in order to attract tourism.
