Three fire engines and five ambulances were rushed to the spot THANE: At least three patients died in a fire at a private hospital near Thane in the wee hours of Wednesday, an official said. The fire broke out at the Prime Criticare Hospital at Kausa in Mumbra locality near Thane at 3.40am. There were no coronavirus patients in the hospital, he added. Three fire engines and five ambulances were rushed to the spot and the blaze has been extinguished, the official said. Twenty patients including six in the intensive care unit were evacuated, he said. Local MLA and Maharashtra minister Jitendra Awhad said that at least three persons were roasted alive in the fire that destroyed the first floor of the hospital.

The wedding held on Saturday night was in gross violation of the Covid-19 precautionary norms that allow only 50 people to gather for a wedding. The attendants were found without masks and not maintaining social distancing. The sources said after the video of the wedding went viral, the local Mahatma Phule police have booked three people including Vayle, his relative Suresh Mahatre and Ramesh Singh (Manager of the hall) under IPC section 188 (Disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 and 270 (Negligent and malignant act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) and under different sections of the Disaster Management Act.
